School Council

At Hexthorpe Academy, the school council is an essential part of how we ensure our pupils have a say in their learning, helping children realise they can make a difference in society. Two pupils are voted, democratically, by their class to represent them in a weekly meeting – and we include both KS1 and KS2. A wide variety of topics, issues and fun projects are led by the school council. Some examples of these include: taking assembly on healthy eating and the sugar swap campaign; videoing new playground games to share in circle time; working with the Headteacher on the new dinner menus and having an active role in many of the fund raising whole school initiatives.
